RS-232 to RS-422 and RS-485 Adapters for industrial applications

Our industrial RS-232 to RS-422 and RS-485 converters are ideally suited for the automation market and other “control panel” applications. Terminal blocks are used to input the power and data signals. Most offer isolation and are hardened for use in areas exposed to temperature extremes. The EMC and emissions specifications run the gambit from light industrial EN 61000-6-1to heavy industrial EN 61000-6-2 with IEEE 1613. Each product also carries a UL listing or recognition. Industrial Serial RS-232 to RS-485 DIN Rail and Panel Mount Converters and Repeaters

Our SCP series RS-232 to RS-422/485 serial DIN rail and panel mount converters are compact and tough. Each model is designed and tested to meet heavy industrial EMC standards. The RS-232 signal is connected through a female DB9 connector. The RS-422/485 (2-Wire and 4-Wire) signal is connected through a removable terminal block, making wiring easy. Power is connected through a two position removable terminal block. Our bit-wise enabled circuitry automatically detects the character time-out eliminating the need to set DIP Switches for the baud rate.

Buy It Just the Way You Need It.

The basic model, SCP211-DFTB3, is non-isolated and made for less demanding temperature extremes. If you need a wider operating temperature but do not require isolation, model SCP211T-DFTB3 is available. These panel mount converter models should be used when isolation is not required, such as applications in which the data line does not exit the control cabinet.

The Toughest of the Bunch

Model SCP311T-DFTB3 offers 2 kV Isolation and will stand up to -40 to 80° C temperature variations. This is our most rugged model in this series. The SCP311 is an excellent investment for protecting your expensive control equipment

Premium model - 485DRCi - features include 10-48 VDC operation, triple isolation, 2000V input/output power supply, UL Class 1 Div 2 Approved. CE approved.

Standard model - 485LDRC9 - features include 10-30 VDC operation, 2-way isolation, 2000V input/output, CE approved.

Our 485LDRC9 is the most popular model. It features both terminal block inputs and a DB9 for added versatility. It is also isolated to protect your valuable gear. For added convenience, we created a kit that includes a serial cable and a power supply. This product is UL recognized.

Our SCP211-DFTB3 is a compact version in a metal panel mount housing without isolation. It is great if you’re only going a short distance - such as inside a control panel. If you do need isolation but like the small metal package, check out our SCP311-DFTB3. The wide temperature version is the SCP311T-DFTB3. These products are UL 508 listed.

Our 485DRCi adds a level of protection - Isolation x 3! Triple isolation protects the data circuits with optical isolators and a transformer on the power supply circuits. It is also UL Class 1 Division 2 listed for use in hazardous locations - perfect for the oil and gas industry.

Our 485DRCi-PH is our most rugged converter. Packaged in a heavy duty metal case, it is IEEE 1613 rated as well as UL Class 1 Division 2. Naturally, it has triple isolation along with shock, drop, and vibration testing. This product was made for the power utility industry, but it is being used in everything from oil rigs to heavy duty vehicles.

If you application is using our 485LDRC, we would like you to consider switching to our 485LDRC9. It was designed to replace the 485LDRC and has since gained wide acceptance. Due to the large volume, we are able to offer the 485LDRC9 and a better price. The only real difference is the addition of the DB9 option for the RS-232 input and UL recognition.
